Machete-armed offenders storm Hoppers Crossing home
Police are investigating a violent home invasion on Mailrun Court, Hoppers Crossing, after several offenders armed with machetes forced their way into a property about 10.30pm on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
The offenders entered a bedroom where two victims were asleep before one of them assaulted a 30-year-old man, punching him in the head several times while demanding money.
Detective Sergeant Kane Trealor, of the Westgate Divisional Response Unit, said: “For a man to be assaulted inside his own home after it was broken into is totally unacceptable.”
Man not seriously injured
The 30-year-old man was not seriously injured in the attack.
“It’s very lucky that there were no significant injuries as a result of this incident,” Detective Sergeant Trealor said.
The group stole two mobile phones and damaged a car parked in the property’s driveway before fleeing the scene in a dark-coloured sedan.
Offenders returned to address a second time
It is believed the same offenders had attended the Hoppers Crossing address the night before, about 12.55pm on Tuesday, 28 July, when they knocked on the door but did not attempt to enter.
The offenders left in the same dark-coloured sedan on that occasion, before returning the following night to force their way inside.

Police release CCTV, appeal for information
Investigators have released CCTV and images of the sedan in the hope someone can identify its occupants.
“We’ve released CCTV of a car that, due to its distinctive rims and nature of driving, we’re confident someone will have information on,” Detective Sergeant Trealor said.
The investigation follows an armed home invasion in Lara that led to two arrests in Hoppers Crossing, and comes weeks after Hoppers Crossing men were charged over an alleged tobacco cash smuggling operation.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or with information, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
