Police Search for Male with Machete Near Werribee Plaza Shopping Centre

A police search was initiated this afternoon for a male reportedly carrying a machete near the Werribee Plaza Shopping Centre in Hoppers Crossing. The incident, which occurred around 5 pm, caused significant concern among local residents and businesses.


Witnesses reported seeing the male running through the Glendale Aged Care car park, causing alarm among those nearby. Local security personnel were seen on Heaths Road, where they recovered a machete that appeared to belong to the male offender.

A police spokesperson provided a statement regarding the incident: “Police were called to reports of a male with a machete, but there was no one there when police arrived. Police patrolled the area.”

The police airwing was also deployed to assist in the search. The airwing conducted a thorough search for approximately 15 minutes but was unable to locate the individual.
