Police Smash Local Drug Syndicate

Police in Williams Landing

In short:

Police have seized more than $6 million worth of drugs from a Williams Landing property, charging four people over an alleged trafficking operation. The major bust forms part of wider investigations targeting drug networks across Melbourne’s west and north.

Massive Cache of Drugs and Cash Uncovered

Police seize an estimated $6 million worth of drugs, including a significant haul from a property in Williams Landing, as part of two major investigations targeting alleged trafficking syndicates across Melbourne.

Detectives from the North West Metro Regional Crime Squad uncover more than 25 kilograms of drugs at a Williams Landing property earlier this week, alongside approximately $500,000 in cash. The seizure follows an investigation into an alleged syndicate operating within the suburb.

The search of a property on Williams Landing Boulevard results in the discovery of large quantities of illicit substances, including MDMA, ketamine, cocaine and methamphetamine, along with other items such as a Holden Colorado utility, steroids, cannabis, a machete and electronic devices.

Police allege the Williams Landing operation forms part of a broader trafficking network. Four people are charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of drugs, including a 28-year-old man, a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, all from Williams Landing, along with a 27-year-old woman from Tarneit.

The two men and the Tarneit woman are remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 23 June, while the Williams Landing woman is bailed to appear on the same date. A 28-year-old woman from Minto, New South Wales, is also arrested at the address but released pending further enquiries.

The Williams Landing seizure includes:

The operation follows a separate investigation in Melbourne’s north, where detectives locate 11 kilograms of methylamphetamine at a Diamond Creek property on 26 March, with an estimated street value of $1.1 million.

During that search, police also locate two sets of scales, a money counter and additional drugs. Three people are arrested, including a 24-year-old Diamond Creek man who is charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine and remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 18 June.

A 30-year-old man from South Morang is expected to be charged on summons with dealing proceeds of crime and possessing drugs, while a 52-year-old Diamond Creek man is released pending further enquiries.

Across both investigations, police seize a combined total of more than 35 kilograms of drugs, with an estimated street value of $5.9 million.

Inspector Geoff Owen from the North West Metro Regional Crime Squad says, “This is a huge effort by our investigators to seize over 35 kilograms of harmful substances, worth an estimated six million dollars.

“These investigations highlight our commitment to pursuing drug traffickers and those profiting off the sale of these harmful substances.

“By removing drugs before they can be on sold, we are not only reducing the direct harm – such as overdoses – but drug fuelled crimes and further criminal offending.

“The consequences of this lifestyle are truly life-changing, with significant jail time attached to a drug trafficking charge.”

Investigations into drug trafficking activity across Melbourne remain ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
