Civic program for future leaders
Young people in Wyndham now have the chance to step into the halls of power, with applications open for the 2025 Youth Civic Participation Project.
Run by Wyndham City Council, the free program gives local residents aged 18 to 25 the chance to explore how all levels of Australian government work — from right here in Wyndham to the corridors of Canberra.
The highlight? A four-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Canberra from 8–11 September, including guided visits to Parliament House, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the High Court, and the Australian War Memorial.
Participants will also spend a full day at Victoria’s Parliament House and engage directly with Wyndham City councillors and staff to gain insight into local government decision-making.
Whether you’re aiming for a career in politics, law, or community leadership, this is a hands-on opportunity to experience government in action and connect with people already making a difference.
Applications close on 26 May 2025. To apply, you’ll need to share your career goals, why politics interests you, and how you’ve been involved in your community so far.
