Presidents Park Masterplan Exceeds $22M

An ambitious plan that includes upgrades to non-compliant sporting facilities is set to revitalise Presidents Park in Wyndham Vale.

The ‘Masterplan Summary’, which was completed for Wyndham City Council in March 2020, estimates that the upgrades will cost approximately $22,806,500.00 with work to be implemented over the next 10 years.

This is almost double that was spent on the recently upgraded Wyndham Park, which cost approximately $13M.

Some of the areas needing improvements include the currently non-compliant Hockey/Softball pavilion, which according to The Sports Facility Capital Development Guide (SFCDG),  requires that some of the following issues are addressed:

  1. Accessible toilet facilities.
  2. An external unisex toilet within the pavilion roofline.
  3.  That Council provides basic facilities to ensure the kitchen/kiosk complies with AS 4674, the Food Standards code and Food Act 1984.

The baseball pavilion is also non-compliant with facilities that are in average condition, only one change room, and no public toilets.

There will be major improvements to all the sporting facilities, greater pedestrian access and more car parking options available.

Other considerations mentioned in the report were a fountain in the lake to mitigate mosquitos, a possible café near the dog club and a redevelopment of the nearby roundabout.
