Wyndham City Opens Entries for the Q Art Project, Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Youth Expression
Wyndham City is thrilled to announce that entries are now officially open for the highly anticipated Q Art Project. Geared toward rainbow-identifying youth aged between 12 and 25, this youth-led art competition aims to provide a platform for LGBTQIA+ self-expression and empowerment.
The Q Art Project seeks to empower and celebrate the artistic endeavors of young individuals within our community. It offers a unique opportunity for creative minds residing in the Wyndham area, falling within the age range of 12 to 25, to express and celebrate their LGBTQIA+ identities through various forms of art.
The Creative City portfolio holder of Wyndham City, Councilor Marcel Mahfoud, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Q Art Project is an excellent opportunity for young Wyndham creatives aged between 12 and 25, encompassing traditional artists, illustrators, writers, fashion designers, music composers, photographers, and makeup artists. The entry options are diverse, allowing for creativity to flow freely. We encourage all budding artists to participate.”
Entries are open to various forms of artistic expression, including visual art such as drawing, painting, and photography, as well as written works, such as short stories, poetry, comics, and musical lyrics or songs.
Each selected entry will not only have the chance to showcase their talent but will also receive a prize of $100. The deadline for submissions is set for November 19, 2023.
Selected entries will be exhibited at a special launch event and subsequently travel to partnering service providers. Additionally, all entries will be featured on the Wyndham City website and across its social media channels.
