Turn The Clock Back Six Decades
Wyndham Museum will open its doors for a special public holiday event this Grand Final Friday, giving locals another option for something to do around Werribee.
The museum will open from 10am to 1pm on 25 September, with the morning featuring the premiere of rare footage capturing a local football match from more than 60 years ago.
The footage comes from an 8mm film believed to have been recorded in the early 1960s at Chirnside Park in Werribee.
Running for just over three minutes, the film captures a match between I.N.F. (Irish National Foresters) and Werribee South, offering a glimpse at local football and the Werribee area during the era.
The rare film was one of three donated to Wyndham Museum by Peter Matlock after a museum representative travelled to Sydney to interview him in July.

The films have since been digitised, allowing the historic footage to be preserved and shown to visitors.
You may notice Werribee South sporting their old blue and gold guernseys.
The special opening provides an opportunity for locals and families to visit the museum and see a piece of Werribee’s sporting history on the Grand Final Friday public holiday.
The Werribee District Historical Society and Wyndham Museum, located at 21 Duncans Road, Werribee, will be open from 10am to 1pm on 25 September for the special public holiday opening.
Its regular opening hours are Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, excluding public holidays.
