Sanctuary Lakes Unveils New Shared Trail.

Skeleton Creek Path

In short:

A three-kilometre shared path has been completed in Sanctuary Lakes, replacing the old gravel trail with a safer and more accessible concrete route. The upgrade improves connections between Point Cook and Saltwater, enhancing walkability and coastal links.

Coastal links extended to Saltwater

A three-kilometre concrete shared user path in Sanctuary Lakes, Point Cook, replacing an old gravel track, has been completed. The path, which starts from the bridge over Skeleton Creek near Sunflower Walk and extends to the Hobsons Bay municipal border, aims to enhance safety and usability for residents.

The project was deemed necessary to fill a gap in the existing walking network across Sanctuary Lakes. Several residents, along with Cr Susan McIntyre, supported the development of the path.

The upgraded path is expected to provide a safer, more accessible, and enjoyable route for activities like scenic strolls, jogs, or weekend bike rides. According to Cr McIntyre, the path will also improve connectivity with other sections of Point Cook and make the suburb more walkable.

The completion of this project is expected to enhance coastal connectivity. The Bay Trail bridge now directly links to Saltwater, creating a seamless and more accessible route for both residents and visitors.

The new path is seen as a significant advancement for local active transport, linking more people to nature, their neighbourhoods, and each other.
