Safety Advice from the State Emergency Service:
• If driving conditions are dangerous, pull over safely, avoiding trees, drains, low-lying areas, and floodwaters. Avoid travel if possible.
• Stay safe by steering clear of hazards like floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads, and fallen trees.
• Be aware that recent storms or fires may have made trees unstable, increasing the risk of them falling in windy or wet conditions.
• Secure any loose outdoor items, such as furniture, umbrellas, and trampolines, and move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
• Remain indoors and stay away from windows during the storm.
• If outdoors, find shelter indoors and avoid trees, drains, gutters, creeks, and waterways.
• Stay clear of fallen powerlines, always assuming they are live.
