Shark Sighting at Werribee South

There has been a report of a shark sighted at the Werribee South Beach at 12.54pm today.

The sighting is as yet unconfirmed but has been noted on the Emergency Services app.

Sharks are a natural part of a healthy marine and estuarine environments. When people enter these environments to surf, swim, fish, dive or snorkel they are entering the shark’s natural environment.

 

Lifeguards are at Werribee South Beach throughout Summer.

While the risk of a shark attack is extremely low, it is important to be mindful of sharks when entering the water. Shark attacks in Victoria are uncommon and there has been no fatality in this state for 30 years.
