Shoppers Rally Over Kiosk Lease

Lotto eviction

In short:

A lease decision affecting a Tattslotto kiosk at Pacific Werribee has prompted a Change.org petition with more than 450 signatures, as locals back a long-term operator who says his tenancy was ended and reassigned.

Beloved Local Lotto Dealer Fights to Stay

A lease decision at Pacific Werribee has sparked a growing community response, with hundreds of locals backing a long-standing kiosk operator whose tenancy has come to an end.

Shah, who has operated a Tattslotto kiosk at the centre for more than 11 years, says his lease was terminated by centre management and the space reassigned to another operator.

He maintains he was up to date with lease obligations at the time and was not given the opportunity to renew before the kiosk was allocated elsewhere.

The change has prompted customers to launch a petition calling for the decision to be reconsidered.

The Change.org petition has attracted more than 450 signatures, with supporters describing Shah as a consistent and recognisable presence within the shopping centre over more than a decade.

Those backing the petition argue the issue highlights how quickly small operators can be displaced within large retail centres, particularly when long-term leases expire or are restructured.

They say Shah’s case has struck a chord with regular shoppers who value continuity and familiarity in local retail spaces.

Shah has confirmed he has sought legal advice in an effort to resolve the matter, but the kiosk has since been reassigned, leaving little room for negotiation under the current arrangements.

The owner of Pacific Werribee, QIC, said it does not provide public commentary on individual tenant agreements, citing tenant privacy.

While lease changes are not uncommon in major shopping centres, the level of public support has turned this dispute into a broader conversation about how redevelopment and tenancy decisions affect small operators and the communities that support them.

Wyndham TV makes no allegation Pacific Werribee has treated any tenant unfairly or engaged in wrongdoing.

The petition remains active and can be viewed via Change.org at: https://www.change.org/p/keep-shah-s-tattslotto-kiosk-at-pacific-werribee
