Snoop Dogg lays down vocals in one take
On Friday afternoon, rap icon Snoop Dogg turned his star power to Wyndham, dropping into Warringa Park School in Werribee South to record a song with students.
The visit came after the students contacted Snoop earlier in the year, nominating him as one of the artists they would love to collaborate with. When news broke that he was in Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final, they launched a campaign to bring him into their classroom studio.

Teacher Ben Butcher said the students had tried everything to get his attention.
“We tried Instagram vids, emails to management, and crossed all our fingers, knowing it was a mega long-shot,” he said. “But then yesterday at 9am I get a call saying he wants to do it! Fifty phone calls and a Zoom meeting with the Department of Education later, my students and a few teachers arrive at our Werribee South campus, and like clockwork Snoop and his crew turn up.”
The music legend quickly settled into the studio.
“Everyone is buzzing, and Snoop seems to really enjoy vibing on the track, writing lyrics on his phone for 10 mins, before laying down his vocals in one take. He does two tracks of ad-libs, and that’s it, and it’s time to party,” Butcher said.
Photos were taken, items signed, and within an hour the session was complete.
Butcher praised the students for their hard work.
“Congratulations to my amazing students, who worked hard on the track and did themselves proud today. And of course thanks Snoop and your friendly and helpful mob for such a wonderful experience, which my students and I will forever cherish.”
