St Peter Apostle Primary School Wins State Award for Inspirational Performance at Wakakirri Story-Dance Festival.

St Peter Apostle Primary School in Hoppers Crossing,  has recently received a state award for their outstanding performance in the annual Wakakirri Story-Dance Festival. The school was recognized for their powerful portrayal of ‘The Garden of Life’ at the awards showcase night on September 14. This performance has also earned them a nomination for the upcoming national award.

Christopher Politis, a Wakakirri ambassador, had high praise for the school’s performance, describing it as “a beautifully shown story about the beauty of life”. The story follows a young girl and her emotional journey as she tends to her garden. It was brought to life by the students of St Peter Apostle Primary School, who have been rehearsing since Term 1 of this year. Performance coordinator Ashley Joyce expressed her pride in the students, stating, “We are very proud of them!”

The Wakakirri Festival director, Adam Loxley, also commended the school’s performance, saying, “The standard of performance and the stories being told by schools this year was exceptional and St Peter Apostle Primary School should be very proud of their award.”

Wakakirri is Australia’s largest performing arts event for schools, with over 200 schools participating in 2024. The festival’s ethos is to convey great stories that inspire change, using story-dance as a medium to channel the thoughts, ideas, and aspirations of students. St Peter Apostle Primary School’s success at the festival is a testament to their dedication and enthusiasm towards their performance. Congratulations to the students and staff of St Peter Apostle Primary School on their well-deserved recognition.
