Stolen Car Ditched in Sunshine: Police Launch Investigation and Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Police are currently conducting an investigation after a stolen vehicle was abandoned in Sunshine late last night. According to reports, the driver of a white Nissan Navara refused to pull over and instead dumped the car before fleeing the scene.
The incident began when the stolen car was spotted travelling towards Greensborough on the Ring Road near Ballarat Road just before midnight. Police officers immediately activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to intercept the vehicle. However, the driver of the Nissan appeared to slow down as they turned onto Hampshire Road, giving the impression that they were about to stop. But suddenly, the car took off at a high speed and disappeared from sight.
After an extensive search of the area, police were able to locate the abandoned Nissan on Clarke Street in Sunshine. It is believed that the car was stolen from a residence in Tarneit earlier in the month of October. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In a statement, a police spokesperson urged anyone with information or relevant dashcam/CCTV footage to come forward. They can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
