Stolen Van: Queensland Duo Arrested in Truganina After Police Chase

Arrest on Leakes Road

A man and a woman were apprehended by police after attempting to evade capture in Derrimut on Wednesday, 24 April. The incident began when the duo allegedly stole a delivery van from an address on Tallis Circuit in Truganina at approximately 2:30 pm.

According to police reports, the police Air Wing spotted the stolen vehicle as it recklessly navigated through Mt Derrimut Road. Eyewitness accounts and police surveillance confirm that the van crossed onto the incorrect side of the road and sped through multiple red lights, posing a significant risk to public safety.

In an effort to halt the dangerous pursuit, police strategically placed stop sticks on Rothesay Street in Derrimut. Despite the tyres being deflated by the stop sticks, the offenders managed to continue driving, albeit on the rimmed wheels of the van, until they were forced to stop on Leakes Road in Truganina.

Following the halt, the man and woman abandoned the disabled vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. However, their freedom was short-lived as police officers quickly apprehended them a short distance from the abandoned vehicle.
