Stop sticks ended the breakfast run
An alleged truck thief’s early-morning breakfast escape came with stop sticks on the side — and ended with flat tyres.
Police arrested a man after a stolen white truck was tracked through Melbourne’s west following a dawn drive-thru detour in Altona North.
The truck was stolen from Footscray about 5.15am, before the driver made a bold breakfast stop beneath the yellow arches.
But police were already on the trail.
Officers tracked the vehicle to the fast-food drive-thru near Blackshaws and Millers roads, where the hot order was followed by a cold reception.
As the truck exited the drive-thru, police rolled out stop sticks, shredding the tyres and turning the getaway into a limp.
With breakfast in hand and rubber on the road, the driver continued along Blackshaws Road before the run finally ran out on Chambers Road.
Police arrested the 39-year-old Hoppers Crossing man at the scene. He was taken into custody and will be interviewed.
