Located between Melbourne and Geelong, Wyndham City is an outer southwestern suburb of Melbourne that covers an area of 542 square kilometres. This area has seen significant residential growth and the population has increased from 112,695 residents at the 2006 Census to around 245,000 residents by 2021. Wyndham is one of the fastest-growing local government areas in Victoria.

The council also supports sustainability initiatives and has committed to protecting green spaces. Wyndham City also hosts the Transformative Education Showcase and Educational Roundtable events and supports blended learning initiatives.

It also has partnerships with Saffron Cafe and has won the Improving Access and Participation in Early Learning Award.

Wyndham’s population may to grow to around 330,000 by 2031. The Victorian Government may invest in the electrification of the Wyndham Vale Line, which would allow for an electrified metro rail system. This investment also expects to help provide additional capacity for future stations. This will benefit residents living in Geelong, Werribee, Sunshine, and other western suburbs.

The City of Wyndham is Important to Support Local Businesses

Wyndham’s population continues to grow at a fast rate. Wyndham plays a role in supporting local businesses. Its population centres around Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing and Tarneit. It has substantial industrial areas and technology areas. Its manufacturing industry accounts for 14% of its workforce. It employs more people than any other sector.

The City of Wyndham is also an important supporter of the Western Rail Plan. This plan includes the upgrade of two metropolitan train lines and the construction of additional tracks between Sunshine and Melbourne. This plan would allow regional Victoria to grow. It also includes detailed planning for the electrification of these lines.

In addition, Wyndham City supports the Australian Made Campaign, promoting local manufacturing industries. It also encourages local businesses to market their products effectively. The Victorian Government and the Loddon Campaspe Regional Partnership have supported this initiative.

The city has also been collaborating with key stakeholders to deliver modern technologies and real-time solutions. One such initiative is the Wyndham Park Redevelopment, which has improved the landscape and activated the city centre. Its playgrounds feature playgrounds designed for young children and an Adventure Play space for older children.

The city also supports the Werribee and Wyndham Vale rail link, which is part of the Western Rail Plan. This link would connect Wyndham Vale with Werribee and would integrate metro train lines with the Regional Rail Link. It would also support population growth in the Wyndham North area.
