A well-known casual relief teacher, to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court amidst serious allegations

A casual relief teacher who has taught at Victorian government schools, including Tarneit Senior College, has been suspended from teaching after being charged with a sex offence. The well-known relief teacher who has worked at various government schools across Victoria, has been placed on interim suspension by the state’s peak teaching regulator following the charge.

The teacher who has taught English and humanities at Tarneit Senior College and most recently served as a casual relief teacher for Anzuk Education, is set to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court next week for a contest mention hearing.

He has been charged by Victoria Police with a sexual offence. Since his interim suspension was imposed by the Victorian Institute of Teaching earlier this month, he has not worked in any Victorian government school.

A Department of Education spokesman stated that the “interim suspension prevents a person from working as a teacher in a school.”

“We are unable to comment further as this matter is currently before the courts,” the spokesman added.
