Intersection Revamp Begins Next Month

Construction on the $10.8 million upgrade of the Tarneit Road and Shaws Road intersection in Werribee will begin in October.

Wyndham City awarded the construction contract this week, clearing the way for works to start next month.

The intersection will be duplicated, with additional lanes and new traffic lights installed to increase capacity and reduce delays for motorists using Tarneit Road and Shaws Road.

Existing pedestrian and cycling connections around the intersection will also be upgraded to improve access and safety.

The project follows the recent completion of the $10.5 million Tarneit Road and Leakes Road intersection upgrade, which included additional lanes, new traffic lights and on-road and off-road cycling lanes.

Further works are planned nearby, with Wyndham City preparing to duplicate Leakes Road between Tarneit Road and Derrimut Road.

Council has allocated $15 million towards the Leakes Road project, with construction expected to begin in late 2026.

The Tarneit Road and Shaws Road intersection upgrade is part of Wyndham City’s Connecting Wyndham infrastructure program.
