Armed assailants attacked 18-year-old Hashim Mohamed on Sunday, killing him.
On September 30, 2021, Hashim was critically injured in a collision that left four young men dead and another critically injured.
Three men attacked the victims’ car outside Tarneit Shopping Centre on Derrimut Road earlier in the night, armed with baseball bats.
Investigators said the sedan the victims were travelling in went east along Dohertys Road when it collided head-on with a small truck near Forsyth Road about 7.30pm.
Police confirmed two people had died at the scene of the crash, while another two died later as they arrived in hospital.

Hashim survived the head-on collision but was critically injured.
Despite investigating the deaths for more than a year, the homicide squad has not laid charges.
Hashim was still recovering and was unable to run from his killers due to his physical condition.
Across Melbourne, tensions between rival youth gangs have “escalated” in recent months, according to police sources.
Detective Inspector Nigel L’Estrange, of the homicide squad, said investigators believed Mr Mohamed’s death wasresult of “a fight between approximately five to six African males”.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
