Wyndham City’s Firefly Night Market in Tarneit, a popular and free community event, has garnered national recognition as Australia’s Best Small Event at the 2023 Australian Event Awards.
Taking place on June 24, this event was organized in conjunction with the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Program, a collaborative effort with the Victorian Government.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, expressed her delight at the national recognition bestowed upon the Firefly Night Market. She praised the dedication and hard work of the Council staff, the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Board, and the local artists, makers, community groups, and performers who contribute to the event’s unique charm.
The Firefly Night Market serves as a vibrant celebration of the Tarneit community, attracting both residents and visitors in large numbers to embrace diverse cultures while supporting local artists and businesses.
Mayor McIntyre also highlighted how the market has become a significant part of the community, with residents and local businesses wholeheartedly embracing it and contributing to its remarkable success.
In addition to commending the collaborative spirit within the Tarneit community, Mayor McIntyre expressed gratitude to the Victorian Government for its support of the Tarneit Revitalisation Program.
She emphasized the City’s pride in its events and activations calendar, with national nominations also received for LIT and the Winter Street Party, showcasing the ongoing commitment to fostering vibrant and engaging community experiences.
