Stolen Vehicle Speeding at 150km/h and Nearly Hits Pedestrian: Westgate Alliance Taskforce Charges Six Boys

Six boys have been charged by Westgate Alliance Taskforce officers after allegedly stealing a vehicle and driving erratically through Wyndham last night.

According to police, a stolen white Mazda 6 sedan was spotted driving recklessly and at high speeds near Fresco Way in Tarneit at around 9:30 pm. The vehicle then reportedly ran a red light on Hummingbird Boulevard in Tarneit.

With the help of Airwing, police say the Mazda was seen reaching speeds of over 150km per hour in a 60km zone. Authorities maintained a safe distance and witnessed the vehicle nearly collide with a pedestrian near Thames Boulevard.

The occupants of the Mazda were then allegedly seen abandoning the vehicle on Fragrance Terrace in Manor Lakes and fleeing on foot. Shortly after, seven boys were arrested in the area, and no injuries were reported.

Police have stated that the Mazda was reported stolen from a Truganina address earlier this month. Six boys, aged between 16 and 17, have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and various traffic offenses. They have been bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A seventh boy, also 16 years old and from Truganina, was given a caution by authorities.
