The incident, which unfolded on Wednesday, 17 April, drew the attention of Werribee police to a group of boys located at a bus stop on Derrimut Road around 5:45 pm. During the interaction, police discovered a machete on a 16-year-old boy from Tarneit.

The teenager was detained briefly to verify his identity and subsequently released. However, he did not leave without repercussion. The young man was issued a penalty notice for possessing a controlled weapon and was fined $1,000.

The police action underscores ongoing concerns about youth behaviour in public spaces and the importance of maintaining community safety. The authorities continue to monitor the area to prevent any further incidents.
