Police seek other suspects involved
A teenager has been charged by the Westgate Alliance Taskforce officers following an aggravated burglary that occurred in Tarneit on Thursday. It is alleged that a group of three individuals broke into a residence on Cobalt Street at around 3:20am while the homeowners were asleep and stole keys to two vehicles.
The trio reportedly returned to the property at about 7am and proceeded to steal a red Audi coupe and a grey Mazda sedan. Upon hearing the cars starting, a male resident attempted to prevent the Audi from being taken, only to be hit by his own vehicle as the culprits fled the scene. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the encounter.
In the aftermath of the incident, a 16-year-old boy from the Wyndham area was arrested. He has since been charged with home invasion, theft of a motor vehicle, conduct endangering life, committing indictable offences while on bail, and unlicensed driving. The teenager has been remanded and is expected to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
Investigations are still underway regarding the other individuals involved in the incident. Police are encouraging anyone with information that could aid their enquiries to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or to submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
