The pursuit began around 11pm when police spotted a stolen white Skoda SUV speeding through Wyndham Vale. With Air Wing support, officers tracked the vehicle across multiple suburbs, over the Westgate Bridge, and back towards the west. The suspects later abandoned the Skoda and switched to a white Volvo, one of two stolen from a Tarneit home on February 4. The chase ended in Truganina when the Volvo crashed, leading to the arrest of five individuals at the scene, with two others caught nearby.
A 16-year-old boy remains in custody, facing 12 charges, including vehicle theft, reckless conduct endangering life, and weapon possession. The other six, aged between 15 and 17, have been charged with offences including vehicle theft and cannabis possession. They have been bailed to appear in a children’s court at a later date.
The second stolen Volvo was recovered following another police pursuit on Wednesday night. A member of the public spotted the white Volvo Coupe travelling east on Leakes Road at about 8.15pm. The vehicle, allegedly taken during the aggravated burglary in Tarneit, was tracked by Air Wing as it headed towards Altona.
The pursuit ended when the car entered a shopping centre car park on Millers Road, where four occupants fled on foot. Two males were arrested nearby—a 17-year-old from Point Cook, who was charged with vehicle theft and bailed to appear in a children’s court, and an 18-year-old from Tarneit, who was issued with a caution.
The two other suspects remain outstanding, and police investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
