In short:
Two teenagers were arrested in Hoppers Crossing after allegedly ramming two police vehicles in a stolen car during the early hours of the morning. The incident unfolded on Geddes Crescent about 1.30am before a Dog Squad pursuit led to their arrest.
Dog Squad members arrested two teenagers after an alleged stolen car rammed two police vehicles in Hoppers Crossing early this morning 2nd February.
An unmarked Dog Squad vehicle was on patrol on Geddes Crescent about 1.30am when officers spotted a black Hyundai Getz parked on the street. A check of the registration revealed the car had been stolen in recent days from outside a gym in Tarneit.
Police activated their lights to intercept the vehicle, and it was alleged the driver deliberately reversed into the unmarked police car.
A second canine unit nearby witnessed the incident and positioned itself in front of the Hyundai. The stolen car allegedly rammed the second police vehicle, which pushed back to prevent the car from fleeing the scene.
The two occupants ran from the vehicle into nearby parkland and were pursued by Dog Squad members. A police dog located both teens and they were taken into custody, with one of the boys receiving a dog bite during the arrest.
There were no injuries to police officers or their dogs.
The 14-year-old and 16-year-old boys remained in custody and were to be interviewed in relation to the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information or dashcam or CCTV footage, was urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
