Children’s Court Grants Bail In Carjacking Case
Police have charged four Wyndham teenagers following two alleged carjackings in Werribee last month.
Westgate Divisional Response Unit officers allege that a group of offenders ordered a rideshare to Mantello Drive about 2.15am on 16 August. Armed with machetes, the group allegedly threatened the driver before stealing his mobile phone and white MG station wagon. The driver was not injured during the incident.
A few hours later, about 4.10am, a rideshare driver arrived at Una Court to collect a passenger. It is alleged that offenders entered the vehicle, assaulted the driver, and then fled in the car. The driver sustained a minor cut.
The Honda CRV from the second incident was located in Hawk Court later the same day around 12.50pm. The white MG station wagon was recovered on Honor Avenue, Wyndham Vale, on 21 August.
Police later arrested two 14-year-old boys and two 17-year-old boys, all from the Wyndham area. Each has been charged with two counts of aggravated carjacking.
They were initially remanded in custody and have since been bailed from a children’s court to appear at a later date.
