Teens Charged in Violent Home Invasion

Police at night

Two teenagers have been charged following a home invasion in Little River on Tuesday, according to the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit. The detectives, in collaboration with the Western Region Crime Squad and the Westgate Divisional Response Unit, have arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy from Wyndham Vale and an 18-year-old man from Kingston, Queensland.

The incident occurred at a property on Rothwell Street at approximately 12:20 am on March 5th. The two suspects, allegedly armed with machetes and a firearm, forced their way into the property and demanded cash. They then proceeded to assault a 73-year-old woman who was present at the time. The woman sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance.

Fortunately, a 47-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy who were also present during the incident were not physically harmed. The 17-year-old Wyndham Vale boy has been charged with aggravated home invasion with a firearm, aggravated home invasion with an offensive weapon, committing an indictable offence while on bail (x2), and theft of a motor vehicle.

In addition, he has also been charged with intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence.

This charge stems from an alleged stabbing incident in Werribee on January 29th, where a 16-year-old boy was injured following an altercation with the 17-year-old on Overton Road at 5:50 pm. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The 17-year-old boy is expected to appear before a children’s court later, while the 18-year-old man has been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 8th.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit.
