Join the Community and Borrow Tools Instead of Buying—Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor Would Approve!

The Wyndham Park Community Shed is excited to announce the grand opening of the Wyndham Park Tool Library. The launch event was attended by Tim Pallas, MP for Werribee, and Wyndham Mayor Jenny Barrera, who participated in a photo opportunity to mark the occasion. The Tool Library is located at the Wyndham Park Community Centre, alongside the Community Shed.

This new initiative aims to provide residents with access to a wide variety of tools and resources for a nominal annual subscription fee. The Tool Library is designed to foster a community spirit and is operated by enthusiastic volunteers. Supported by seed funding from Sustainability Victoria and the Wyndham City Council, the initiative’s goal is to help the local community achieve more with less, thereby reducing waste and promoting sustainability.

As Tim “The Toolman” Taylor would say, “More power!” Residents are invited to visit the online catalogue, sign up for the mailing list, and contact the volunteer team to become members and arrange tool loans. The library’s mission is to supply the right quality tools for every job, ensuring that residents can complete their home projects efficiently.

The Tool Library is now open at the Community Shed, located at 57a Kookaburra Avenue, Werribee. It is currently open for drop-in enquiries on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 2 pm, with plans to expand its hours to include Saturdays in the near future.

Tool Library Manager, Daniel Schultheis, expressed his excitement about the range of tools available for borrowing. “It’s not just DIY tools,” he said. “We have everything from craft tools to camping gear to gardening essentials—virtually anything you might need.” All tools are thoroughly checked and tested before being lent out. In the words of Tim the Toolman, “We don’t just fix things, we improve them.”

For more information, residents can visit www.wyndhamparktoollibrary.com.au or contact the volunteer team at info@wyndhamparktoollibrary.com.au. The Tool Library encourages the community to get involved and suggest additional tools for the inventory.
