Altona Highway Patrol are investigating following an incident involving a car and a pedestrian in Point Cook this afternoon.
Investigators have been told a car struck a two-year-old boy in the driveway of a property about 3pm.
First responders were performing CPR on the boy as police, more ambulance and fire services arrived in the suburban street.
The street was then closed at either end as police set up a crime scene.
The air ambulance was also dispatched at around 3.30pm but turned back shortly into its flight.
Sadly, the child died at the scene.
