In short:
More than 110 business and community leaders met in Williams Landing to discuss Wyndham’s future growth and investment priorities with Treasurer Jaclyn Symes. The event highlighted key projects, economic opportunities and collaboration between government and business.
Businesses Make Case For Region
More than 110 business and community leaders gathered in Williams Landing on 10 June to hear directly from Victorian Treasurer Jaclyn Symes and reinforce calls for greater investment in infrastructure and services across Wyndham.
The Committee for Wyndham’s annual State Treasurer’s Lunch brought together representatives from the private sector, government and community organisations as pressure continues to mount on transport, health and education services in one of Australia’s fastest-growing municipalities.
Committee for Wyndham chief executive Leanne Down said the region’s rapid growth required sustained government investment to ensure infrastructure kept pace with demand.
“Wyndham continues to lead the state in population growth and economic opportunity, but investment in infrastructure, transport, health, education and jobs must keep pace with the needs of our growing community,” Ms Down said.

Wyndham’s Future: A Hot Topic
Committee chair Craig Kennedy said Wyndham would play an increasingly important role in Victoria’s economic future but required long-term planning and investment to support that growth.
The event comes as Wyndham City Council and local advocacy groups continue to push for major infrastructure commitments ahead of the November Victorian election, arguing population growth has outpaced investment in roads, public transport, health services and community facilities.
Addressing the gathering, Treasurer Symes outlined key measures from the 2026-27 Victorian Budget, including funding for the expansion of the Werribee Mercy Hospital emergency department.
Also mentioned, were the investments in the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital, a new secondary college in Wyndham Vale, school upgrades and additional rail and public transport capacity across Melbourne’s west.

Important Conversations Had
Werribee MP John Lister also addressed attendees before the Treasurer’s presentation.
A question-and-answer session gave local business leaders the opportunity to raise concerns directly with the Treasurer, while the Committee for Wyndham used the event to highlight Wyndham City Council’s state election advocacy priorities.
Ms Down said collaboration between government, business and community leaders would be critical if Wyndham was to secure the investment needed to support its continued growth.
“Events such as this provide an important platform for constructive dialogue and ensure decision-makers hear directly from the businesses and communities driving growth in our region.”
