More staff needed as Triple Zero calls increase
Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) is expanding its workforce, with recruitment now underway for more call-takers and dispatchers.
The new roles will strengthen services across the state, ensuring support is available when Victorians need it most.
In the past year, TZV received more than three million calls for assistance — an increase of 7.3 per cent on the previous year, or one call every 10.2 seconds. TZV also dispatched almost 2.6 million emergency service events across Victoria.
Call-takers and dispatchers work around the clock from centres in Williams Landing, Burwood East and Ballarat, connecting people to police, fire and ambulance services.
The milestone of three long-serving TZV dispatchers was also celebrated, with each reaching 30 years of service to the community.
“Special people do this work – they are always calm under pressure and dedicated to helping the community,” TZV CEO Deb Abbott said.
Recruitment is now open for those looking to pursue what TZV describes as a “dynamic, skilled and rewarding career.” More details can be found at jobs.triplezero.vic.gov.au.
