Crash linked to damaged road joint
All Melbourne-bound lanes of the Princes Freeway are closed between the Princes Highway in Werribee and Duncans Road following a serious crash involving a truck and a van.

The incident occurred at around 4am and is believed to have been caused by a damaged expansion joint on the road surface, which may have contributed to the truck rolling over. The van was also caught up in the crash along with several other vehicles that incurred various damages including tyre damage.
Emergency services are diverting traffic at the Princes Highway, with detours in place via Duncans Road or along the Princes Highway through Point Cook and Hoppers Crossing.
The road remains closed under the control of Victoria Police while investigations are underway and crews continue repairs. All lanes will reopen when it is safe to do so.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and follow detour signs. Authorities thank the public for their patience.
