Two men who broke into a home in Truganina overnight have left empty handed after their victim fought back armed with his cheapest guitar.
Police have been told two men kicked their way into the Gilbee Road home and threatened the homeowner and his partner with a knife about 1.50am.
The offenders made demands for the keys to a Mercedes parked in the driveway of the home.
The male victim managed to fight the attackers off and grabbed a bass guitar, chasing the pair down the road where they jumped into a waiting car.
It is believed a man and a woman were waiting in the getaway car.
As the dark coloured car drove away the victim smashed the rear passenger side window with his guitar.
The 37-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were shaken but not physically injured in the incident.
Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information or for anyone who witnessed the car in the vicinity to come forward.
The offenders are perceived to be Middle Eastern in appearance and were wearing hooded jumpers and had their faces covered.
