Emergency services respond swiftly to a two-storey house blaze, as authorities investigate the suspicious nature of the fire
A two-storey house on Morris Road, near Dempsey Avenue, was ablaze this morning 8th December around 6:30 am, triggering a rapid response from emergency services. As approximately 12 fire emergency vehicles descended on the scene, thick plumes of smoke rose in all directions.
The lone male resident successfully evacuated the premises, albeit sustaining burns during the process. Paramedics are presently on-site, administering the necessary medical care.
Amidst ongoing firefighting efforts, a smoke warning has been issued for the surrounding area. Residents are urged to stay indoors, keeping windows and doors closed to minimize exposure to the smoke. The affected zone has been cordoned off to facilitate the work of emergency responders.
Adding complexity to the situation, authorities have deemed the fire suspicious, prompting an immediate investigation into its origin and circumstances. The community is encouraged to share any information that might shed light on the events leading up to the incident.
Despite the challenges posed by this unexpected incident, the measured response from emergency services has thus far prevented further harm and aims to contain the situation. The affected neighbourhood is advised to stay vigilant.
