Man Charged in Brutal Home Invasion: Police Continue Search for Second Offender

A Truganina man has been charged by detectives from the Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit in connection with a reported home invasion in Altona North earlier this week.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday, September 16 at around 7:15pm on Mangan Court. It is alleged that two male suspects forcibly entered a property and attacked a man inside with axes.

The victim, a 36-year-old Altona North resident, sustained minor injuries. A 34-year-old man from Point Cook, who was also present at the time, was unharmed.

Police were informed that one of the occupants of the property followed the suspects and confronted them with a weapon. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. Shortly after, a 21-year-old man presented himself at a hospital with a stab wound. He was later arrested and questioned by detectives after being released from the hospital.

The Truganina man has since been charged with home invasion, recklessly causing injury, and assault with a weapon. He was granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 20.

One of the suspects involved in the incident is still at large and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
