Truganina Security Deal Tainted By Scandal

Truganina Security Trial

In short:

Wyndham City Council’s $372,000 ratepayer-funded security patrol trial in Truganina is facing scrutiny after national media reported serious allegations involving the contractor, prompting questions about women’s safety, oversight and public spending.

Public Money, Private Security Scandal

Wyndham City Council’s $372,000 ratepayer-funded private security patrol trial in Truganina is facing mounting backlash after a national scandal engulfed the company contracted to deliver the program.

The six-month trial, which began on 10 November and was originally planned to run for 12 months, is being carried out by MA Services Group — a company now mired in serious allegations reported by multiple media outlets.

Those reports allege the company’s owner, Micky Ahuja, has been accused of sexually harassing, bullying and intimidating vulnerable female employees, including claims that women were offered money in exchange for sexual favours. Mr Ahuja has denied the allegations.

The revelations have triggered alarm about women’s safety, workplace protections and the appropriateness of public money being funnelled to an organisation under such scrutiny.

The trial, funded entirely by Wyndham ratepayers, has a high-visibility presence in the community, raising further concerns about oversight and accountability.

In response to the national reporting, Wyndham TV sought urgent clarification from Wyndham City Council on what safeguards are in place — particularly for women — and whether the contract remains appropriate under the circumstances.

Wyndham City Council were asked:

  • What measures are being taken to ensure female Wyndham City Council staff who may have had contact with Mr Ahuja or his representatives are appropriately supported?
  • Whether Council is considering terminating the existing contract in light of these reported allegations?
  • Whether Council is considering engaging an alternative security provider?

A Wyndham City Council spokesperson said:

‘Wyndham City Council is aware of recent media reporting regarding MA Services Group.

“Council expects all contractors delivering services on our behalf to comply with all relevant laws, standards and contractual requirements.

“Council is monitoring the situation closely and will take any steps required under its contractual arrangements.’”

Wyndham TV also provided the opportunity for Cr Preet Singh, who advocated for the security patrol trial as an election commitment, to release a statement.

No response was received by the time of publication.

As the allegations continue to attract national attention, the Truganina security patrol trial remains active — with ratepayer funds continuing to flow to a contractor now at the centre of serious and ongoing controversy.

Wyndham TV makes no allegation of wrongdoing or awarness of the allegations against MA Services Group by Cr Singh or anyone employed and contracted by Wyndham City Council.
