Police Investigate Targeted Assaults on Local Businesses in the Early Hours of June 11
Police are investigating two targeted attacks that occurred in Werribee and Hoppers Crossing on 11 June.
In the first incident, a car arrived at a tobacco store on Tarneit Road, Werribee, just after 4 am. The vehicle was reversed into the front security roller shutter before the driver fled on foot, leaving the car at the scene. Fortunately, no one was inside the business at the time of the incident.
Shortly after, in Hoppers Crossing, offenders targeted the Barakat International Goods store on Costas Drive just before 5 am. They set the store on fire, but a passerby managed to extinguish the flames before emergency services arrived. Again, no one was inside the business during the attack.
Investigators are treating both incidents as targeted attacks. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
