A 38-year-old man from Eynesbury was the first to be arrested at 19.30 in Eynesbury. Following this, a 27-year-old man from Hoppers Crossing was taken into custody at his home by the SOG just before 9pm.

Following the arrests, two search warrants were executed at residential addresses in Eynesbury and Hoppers Crossing. Police seized a stolen vehicle, false number plates, and edged weapons during their search. The Eynesbury man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and displaying cloned plates. He has been bailed to appear at Werribee Magistrates’ Court on 11 August.

The Hoppers Crossing man was released pending further enquiries.

These arrests follow an incident that occurred on Wednesday, 9 April, when the police received reports of an injured man in the vicinity of Durham Crescent shortly after 9am. Upon arrival, the police were unable to locate any injured individuals. However, they were later informed that a 31-year-old man from Werribee had arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body around 12pm.

Investigators believe that the individuals involved in the incident were acquainted with each other. The investigation is still ongoing.

The authorities have urged anyone with information on illicit firearm activity to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
