Man kicks officer after refusing breath test following crash in Hoppers Crossing.
Two police officers were assaulted during the arrest of a man in Hoppers Crossing last night. Police were called at around 9:35 pm following reports of a Holden Commodore being driven erratically. Shortly after, the vehicle collided with another car.
Officers arrived swiftly and engaged with the driver, who not only refused to provide identification or take a breath test but also began verbally abusing the officers, screaming at them.
The situation escalated when the driver lifted his leg and back-kicked one of the officers. He was immediately pulled to the ground before being marched to the back of the divisional van.
The driver, a man in his 20s from Tarneit, has since been identified and is expected to face charges of assaulting police as well as several traffic offences.
