Un-Vaxed Wyndham Councillor Goes Public.

Last night Wyndham Council resolved to write to the Minister for Local Government and Chief Health Officer, seeking clarification around Covid-19 vaccination requirements for Councillors.

The resolution also required the Mayor to write to any unvaccinated Councillor and encourage them to take a leave of absence until clarification from the Minister is provided.

Cr. Marcel Mahfoud, who appears to be at the centre of the vaccination controversy, released the following statement, “Whilst I am currently unvaccinated, I am pro-choice and do intend to be vaccinated. I am awaiting the release of the Novavax vaccine in Australia. This is currently being assessed by the TGA and I anticipate that it will be available soon. After much deliberation and consultation, I felt that this vaccine was best for me.

Given that the ability exists to attend Council Meetings and Briefings virtually, I will continue in my role as Chaffey Ward Councillor, meeting virtually with residents, Councillors and Council staff temporarily, until Novavax becomes available.”
