Westgate Highway Patrol members observed a black Holden utility heavily accelerate from a set of traffic lights early this morning in Truganina.
The 24-year-old male driver was reported to have performed a burnout at 6.30am this morning (7th Jun) in very wet conditions.
The burnout went for approximately 30 metres and was executed directly in front of an unmarked police car.
The Truganina man was intercepted to explain himself and is now expected to be charged on summons to answer charges of unlicenced driving, failing an oral fluid drug test, driving an unroadworthy vehicle and improper use of a motor vehicle.
The vehicle was immediately impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1006.10 and the driver will face the Werribee Magistrates Court at a later date
