One of Tarneit’s most notorious intersections will be receiving a much-needed upgrade in order to make it a safer intersection for all road users.
A string of collisions at the intersection of Davis Road and Dohertys Road has had locals calling for action for many years on what has been described as a “very dangerous intersection”.
During the next 12 months, Wyndham City will provide $167.2 million for Capital Works, including $31.1 million for our local road network.
Wyndham City will spend $3.3 million as part of this funding to upgrade the intersection of Davis Road and Dohertys Road in Tarneit.
Among the works will be a complete reconstruction of the intersection, as well as the installation of new traffic lights.
Davis Road will also be reconstructed, including one lane in both directions with sealed shoulders, between Twyford Way and Tarnala Road. Among other improvements are drainage and public lighting installation.
Wyndham City Director, City Operations, Stephen Thorpe said, “This upgrade is part of Wyndham City’s commitment to develop, maintain and improve local roads and infrastructure across Wyndham.”
“It will also provide a safer and controlled cross intersection that caters for growth in this part of Tarneit.”
In addition to improving signage and line marking, pavement widening and resurfacing will be part of the intersection upgrade project.
Wyndham City and Melton City jointly fund the Boundary Road and Davis Road intersection project and the works are expected to begin in late 2022.
