KAM Melbourne is led by Maciek (MG) Kaminski and his son Mikhail Kaminski. The Kaminski family are prominent US investors with a background in property and asset management through their firm Kaminski Asset Management. They have experience managing large-scale residential and commercial real estate developments in both the United States and Europe. The family has also previously explored investments in European football, including an attempt to acquire a stake in an English Premier League club.
The deal will see WUFC integrated into KAM Sports’ broader international football strategy, which aims to create elite player pathways while combining sport with real estate development.
Western United, founded in 2018, has already made an impact in the A-League, winning the Men’s Championship in 2022 and reaching the Women’s Grand Final in their debut season. The club is currently based in Melbourne’s western suburbs and has long planned to develop a football-specific stadium and surrounding mixed-use precinct in Tarneit through a partnership with Wyndham City Council.

The 62.5-hectare site, located around 25 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, remains central to WMG’s original vision to create a sport-centred community hub. The Kaminski family’s involvement is expected to bring fresh capital and momentum to the delayed project.
According to the parties involved, the acquisition follows a 12-month due diligence process. If approved by Football Australia, the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), Wyndham City Council, and the Foreign Investment Review Board, the transaction will provide financial stability to WUFC at a critical juncture.
In March, the Australian Taxation Office filed a winding-up application against entities linked to WMG, and a separate business associated with a club director was placed into liquidation this week.
Despite these challenges, stakeholders remain optimistic. The new ownership group intends to focus on long-term sustainability, youth development, and community engagement, while accelerating stadium construction and continuing the club’s growth in the A-League.
Further updates are expected once the regulatory approval process is complete.
