In short:
V/Line has suspended passenger services on all lines for a second consecutive day as a nationwide Telstra outage continues to disrupt its communications system. Passengers in Melbourne’s west and across Victoria are being urged to defer non-essential travel while crews work to safely restore services.
All lines still suspended
V/Line passengers are being asked to defer non-essential travel for a second day running, as a nationwide Telstra outage continues to disrupt the rail operator’s communications system.
In an update issued at 6.34am on Thursday, July 9 (AEST), V/Line confirmed passenger services on all lines remain unable to operate, including Thursday morning’s peak services.
“We advise passengers to please defer non-essential V/Line travel,” the update read.
V/Line acknowledged the impact on travellers, saying, “We acknowledge this has been inconvenient to many people and thank passengers for their patience as work continues to safely restore services.”
The outage follows widespread Telstra network issues that first grounded V/Line services on Wednesday, July 8.
