Western United and Melbourne Victory have played out a fiery nil-all draw at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

Despite dominating much of the game, Western United walked away with just a point from their clash with Melbourne Victory on Saturday.

United thought they had the lead minutes from the break as Connor Pain found Besart Berisha who finished from close range. The goal was disallowed, however, as Pain was deemed to be offside in the build-up.

United would go on to create most of the chances in the second half.

Spaniard Iker Guarrotxena forced a strong save from Victory keeper Max Crocombe, just minutes after entering the game.

Alessandro Diamanti went even closer for the Green and Black, hitting the bar twice in the space of a few minutes with a couple of thunderous strikes.

Dylan Pierias put the ball in the back of the net in the 80th minute in what was thought to be the opening goal, however, Mark Rudan’s side was denied again for another offside.

Victory had a chance late on to win it, however, were denied by a stunning Filip Kurto save.

Despite creating the majority of the chances in the second half, United was held by the Victory.

United will travel to Gosford next week to take on the Central Coast Mariners.

Western United’s next match is against the Central Coast Mariners in NSW on Sunday 7 February.
