I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all of you for the privilege granted to me to be your councillor, and for your continued support throughout the past 15 years. It has been a tremendous honour for me to have assumed the responsibility to work with council officers and all the residents of Wyndham.
I take these responsibilities very seriously.
Together, we have achieved some outstanding works. We have a great community in Wyndham however there is always more to do being one of the fastest growing cities.
We are very fortunate to have community organizations, service clubs and residents in Wyndham that continuously make positive contributions to our growing community.
Being a leader or elected councillor is about giving back to our community and working collaboratively as a team to ensure that Wyndham remains the most liveable city I the South West Metropolitan Region.
Today, because of the COVID-19 situation, we all have been challenged like never before, with many issues to work on, considering the big downturn we are currently experiencing in our economy and budgets. Councillors and council officers will be reviewing our budgets every three months. The full extent of business closures will not be known for many months, as many small businesses will understandably try to hang on and trade their way back.
Sadly, many businesses will not survive, and this is where our Council and respective Councillors will need to assist and make significant proactive decisions. Businesses need business, People need jobs. This is the only practical way forward.
Unfortunately, there are many in our community that will be disproportionately affected in this economic climate. Moving forward it will be these residents that will require the strongest voice in Council to ensure that they receive the support they require. The community needs a Council that works together to provide the infrastructure, education and other important services that all residents need and deserve. I believe that over the past four years, as a team, we have worked towards these goals successfully.
If re-elected, I will continue to work for financial responsibility and a fair rating system for all residents. My record is well known; I regularly consult with and seek feedback from the residents in the Iramoo Ward, who assist me in advocating on your behalf.
In these uncertain times our community needs an Experienced, Responsible and Accountable Council. I have a proven record as a councillor that has consistently delivered on these values.
