Residents invited to suggest ideas for local green spaces
Werribee and Werribee South have been included in the Victorian Government’s $30 million Pick My Park program, which invites local residents to suggest ideas for new or improved parks, playgrounds, and green spaces in their neighbourhoods.
The program is focused on areas earmarked for future housing development, particularly around activity centres and train stations, to support growing communities with better outdoor spaces.
Residents are encouraged to submit their ideas online. With the support of land and park managers, the most suitable suggestions will be developed into project proposals, which will later be put to a public vote.
The projects that receive the most votes will be awarded grants ranging from $20,000 to $250,000 to fund their delivery.
According to the state government, the initiative is designed to boost access to quality outdoor spaces and support liveability in rapidly developing suburbs.
Submissions are open now via the official site at www.planning.vic.gov.au/pickmypark, with the idea stage being the first step before proposals are refined and community voting begins.
