The Ford is alleged to have continued at these high speeds, running red lights and recklessly driving through numerous Geelong suburbs. The vehicle reportedly side-swiped another car along the Western Ring Road, Lovely Banks before the pursuit was called off. It is alleged that the vehicle was travelling at speeds between 150km/h and 170km/h.
Ground units continued to monitor the situation, eventually locating the Ford in Little River as it was heading towards Werribee. Police successfully deployed stop sticks at the intersection of Windall Road and Ison Road in Werribee.
Despite this, the Ford is alleged to have continued driving recklessly, colliding with a school fence on Walls Road and running another red light at Bulban Road. The car finally came to a stop on Wedge Street North, Werribee around 1:30pm.
The sole occupant of the Ford, a 27-year-old man from Werribee, was arrested at the scene and transported to the hospital. He is currently under police guard. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, though all vehicles involved sustained moderate damage.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam/CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
