In an incident that took place on June 10, 2023, around 4:30 pm, Westgate Highway Patrol members intercepted a 40-year-old man from Werribee who was riding his motorcycle without wearing a helmet.
Disturbingly, the rider had his 9-year-old son seated as a pillion passenger, though the child was wearing a helmet.
The situation escalated further when the rider’s breathalyzer test returned a positive alcohol reading of 0.12 blood alcohol concentration (BAC), which is more than twice the legal limit.
As a result of his actions, the man’s motorcycle was impounded for a period of 30 days.
The rider will have to face the consequences of his reckless behavior in the Werribee Magistrates Court.
The court appearance will provide an opportunity for him to explain his actions and address the multiple offences he committed, including riding without a helmet, carrying a young passenger, and exceeding the legal alcohol limit.
